Firefly Spain Rental Terms for travel between 27-Jun-2018 and 31-Dec-2024

Required Document

All drivers must carry a valid full license from their country of residence. If it is not in English you must also present an International Driving Permit or a suitable translation. The license must be valid for the entire rental period.

At the rental counter, you will need to present your passport or ID card (with Roman script) as a proof of identity plus a valid national driver's license which has been held for at least 1 year.



This option includes cover protection against theft and damages with an excess, being the excess €1.000 for groups A and B, €1250 for groups N, C, C1, H and D, €1600 for group D1.

In case of refusing our SuperCover product, your credit card will be blocked for 850€ .


SuperCover reduces your liability to us to €0 (zero) for the excess which otherwise applies if you take Collision Damage
Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP).
In Locations where limited kilometer applies, SC will also waive kilometer excess cost.

SuperCover covers any loss of or damage to the Firefly vehicle except where the loss or damage was caused
intentionally or by the gross negligence of the driver (e.g. acting in a way they know or should know is likely to cause
harm or damage) or by breach of your obligations under the Rental Agreement.

Examples include: damage caused by driving on non-authorized roads (outside road network) or on restricted zones
(such as airport service zones), driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, filling the vehicle up with the wrong fuel,
or theft caused as a result of losing the keys or leaving the vehicle open/engine started unattended, damage originated
from its use to tow or push any vehicle without Firefly´s authorization, damaged incurred by the vehicle´s use on
animal/cattle/explosives/corrosive substances transportation, damage incurred by a violation of a traffic law, damage
caused as consequence of participating in rallies or any other racing competition, and any damage caused by using the
vehicle in any illegal activity. SuperCover does not limit your liability to us for damage of optional items such as GPS,
child seats or any other additional equipment. Please be advised, these examples are not exhaustive but expository.

As a general rule, any damage to the car is covered by Super Cover except when there is customer negligence. Examples of customer negligence are driving in unauthorized roads or under the effects of alcohol or drugs, refuelling the vehicle with the wrong type of fuel, lost keys, traffic fines, loss or damage to vehicle accessorial equipments such as GPS, Baby seats, or any other element of the vehicle that can be detached from it.

  • Pre-purchase of a full tank of fuel is required in full-empty rates.
  • A variable service fee is also applied to cover service costs (Firefly Service Charge).
  • Both items are clearly displayed in your Rental Agreement.
  • Fuel Rates are strictly calculated based on official pump rates, and we will apply the corresponding charges to the specific vehicle you are renting with us.
  • A reimbursement of unused fuel will be automatically applied to your rental upon return.
  • The fuel rate to calculate the reimbursement is exactly the same one we applied to calculate fuel costs at the start of your rental.
  • The Service Charge is not refundable, only the fuel cost.
  • You can find the most updated information of fuel costs and service charge costs per car group (please note you will be provided you with maximum/minimum ranges, as they are dependant on each specific vehicle) in our website ( or at any of our locations.


  • With the full-full fuel policy, the vehicle is provided with a full tank of petrol and must be returned with a full tank.
  • Customer has the option of not leaving the vehicle full; should this be the case a refuelling fee of 30€ will apply. 
  • Fuel Rates are strictly calculated based on official pump rates, and we will apply the corresponding charges to the specific vehicle you are renting with us.



Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement when you collect your vehicle. As with your own vehicle insurance
policy, additional driver insurance has higher fee. This will be included into Additional Driver Fee as follows below:

Driving outside Spain in countries mentioned above without having purchased this additional cover results in breach of contract, and all coverages, including CDW & TP will be void.

Firefly does not accept Cash under any circumstance as a valid method of payment.

A.- If you use a valid credit card (*) a 4€ fee will apply to cover our costs for processing the payment with your credit card company (unless the credit card is issued by Spanish banking institution - no fee applies).

B.- If you use a valid credit card (*) when you pick up the car and a valid Debit card (**) when you drop off the car, no credit card or debit card charges will apply.

C.- If you do not have a valid credit card (*) we accept debit cards (**) when you pick up your car, however, given that we will not be able to reserve credit against potential damage to the vehicle or fuel missing at return we will need you to purchase Super Cover and Fuel at the start of the rental. We will refund unused fuel  at the end of the rental unless we have agreed with you otherwise.

If the booking owner is not the driver, an extra charge will apply.



If a customer is fined during the rental period, Firefly is obliged to notify the customer and make the appropiate administrative management required by the authorities. Hence, the customer will have to pay and admin fee of 40€. This fee is regardless of the fine, that will have to be paid by the customer to the authorities.



If no additional cover is purchased at the office (SCDW) and the rented vehicle is damaged during the rental, in addition of any damage charges which could arise up, the customer will be charged for a damage administration fee of 60 €.

Child safety seats are mandatory in the following cases:

installation in accordance with the instructions provided. Toddler (suitable for 9 months – 6 years old children) and Booster
(suitable for 6 – 11 years old children) child seats are available for an additional charge as follows:

In case of child seat damage you will be charged a replacement fee in amount of 75.-€ (in addition to child seat rental fee)



Any service delivered within location opening hours but later than 23:59 will be charged at 40€ on top of the pre-booked rate. Customers requiring this service must ensure to communicate their flight number. Firefly will not wait for delayed flights if flight information is not present in our booking registers.

The charge will be applied irrespective of the flight being late or according to schedule, in case the customer arrives later than 23:59 at our locations.

Firefly offers a 30 minutes grace period to all its customers. In case the grace period is exceeded and the customer has not contacted us to ask for an extension of his previous booking, there is a charge of 40€ per day, on top of the applicable daily rate, to cover these unauthorized extra days.

Firefly cancellations and no-shows are free of charge for all rates.



We allow customers to return the vehicle up to 30 minutes (grace period) after the agreed time specified in the rental agreement. Any time after that an extra day´s rental will be charged and a late return fee of 40 € will apply.

This is to recover our costs of trying to contact the customer and arranging for a replacement vehicle to be provided for next customer.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
